Nordic Walking is a fitness activity, different from trekking or hiking. Nordic Walking was pioneered by Scandinavian winter sports athletes in need of an off-season conditioning program. Eventually, Nordic Walking spread to more countries. Numerous benefits were recognized as a pleasurable way to support and add to their health and fitness.
Malin Svensson, from Sweden, was a key person who introduced the Nordic Walking program to the US in the 1990's as a way of encouraging fitness for anybody, anywhere and in any season. Malin is founder and CEO of NordicBodyAcademy, and offers a stringent certification program to Fitness Trainers. Shari Greenberg is a proud graduate of Malin's program, and excited to bring Nordic Walking to you!
